Many women in the Western world find their inner labia too big, too visible, too prominent. The shrinking of the labia is increasingly becoming a trend with us in Europe. Since when has labia reduction been so popular? What’s behind it? Statistics show an increasing number of women undergoing intimate surgery.
It’s not just body cult – labia correction also has a medical background
Since the intimate shave, labia have only really increased affected women. Their correction for purely aesthetic reasons is a luxury, if you will.
However, other women come to the beauty clinic because they feel pain when exercising certain sports or during sexual intercourse in the intimate area (pulling, feeling pressure, swelling).
Don’t be ashamed and contact the doctor of your trust
You are not alone with your concerns. Overcome your sense of shame and put yourself in professional hands. On your first meeting, you can build a trust base with your surgeon.
You may already be able to check your intimate area; this is also possible in a second step. No matter how pronounced the finding, your personal pressure of suffering is indication enough to operate.
The next step towards well-being is labia correction
This can be done either in purely local anaesthetic or in combination with a short twilight sleep. Under sterile conditions in the operating room, the labia to be corrected are infiltrated with a local anaesthetic. In order to be able to perform the local anaesthesia as much as possible without pain, a strong anaesthetic cream can be applied for 15 to 20 minutes.
After that, the syringe is barely noticeable. After removing the excess tissue, the wound is sewn with self-dissolving threads. Thick bandages/inserts in the underwear replace a plaster bandage.
Take 1 week off after surgery
After the labia correction, the intimate area is first of all quite swollen and sensitive. This means mild pain, which can be controlled by decongestant measures (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, cool packs). To prevent infection, antibiotics and antifungal agents should be used for 3 to 5 days. Take a week off after the surgery! In the first days after the operation, normal household activities can be carried out.
